 Why Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married a minor girl? Who is the legislature? Authority and Sharia (law) belong to Allah alone, not to us or to countries like the US or the UK. Allah says: “The الحكم (judgment/authority) is only for Allah.” (Surah Yusuf 12:40) Marrying a minor!? In the US or the UK, if you are below the age of 18 and you marry, you are considered a criminal and can be punished. However, if you are above 18, you are not held accountable even if you engage in selling sexual services, and in many countries it is legalized. Islam, marriage is encouraged even at a young age, while illegal sexual relations are condemned and may be punished by lashing, or even stoning to death in the case of a married person, regardless of being above 18.
