From a Man Who Could Not Read — To the Messenger of Allah Who Taught the World

The Rise of Islam: Honor Written by Allah

In the beginning, we were a people forgotten by history. No science. No libraries. Only tribes fighting in the desert.

Yes — we were once illiterate. And our Prophet was al-Ummi, the unlettered Prophet. Allah Himself honors him:

“The Messenger, the unlettered Prophet.” — Qur’an 7:157

He was not a king. He owned no palaces or treasures. Yet he is the most honored servant of Allah:

“Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant.” — Qur’an 25:1

We had no power, no empire, no wealth — but Allah was and is ever sufficient for us.

The Night Everything Changed

When creation needed guidance again, Allah sent the leader of the angels — Jibrīl — to the Cave of Hira.

He embraced the Prophet and commanded:

“Read.”

The Prophet  replied:

“I am not one who reads.”

Then, by the command of Allah, the first revelation descended — words that would lift humanity from darkness to light.

The First Five Verses Revealed

Read in the Name of your Lord who created.

He created the human being from a clinging clot.

Read — and your Lord is the Most Generous.

He is the One who taught by the pen.

He taught the human being what he did not know.

These were the first words of the Qur’an ever revealed — the beginning of knowledge, mercy, and guidance for all mankind.

Offered the World — He Chose Allah

Quraysh tried to stop him. They offered:

Wealth — to make him the richest.  Kingship — rule all of Makkah and Arabia.  Any woman he desired.

But he ﷺ answered:

“I have not come for this.”

Later, Allah gave him a divine choice:

A King-Prophet, or

A Servant-Prophet.

And he ﷺ said:

“I choose to be a Servant-Prophet.” — Musnad Ahmad

He chose humility over kingship. Worship over power. Allah over the world.

How Islam Triumphed

Islam united Arabia — a land once divided by endless tribal wars. Justice replaced oppression. Knowledge replaced ignorance.

Then Islam reached:

 Rome (Byzantium)  Persia  East and West

Not by numbers. Not by weapons. But by truth, justice, and the help of Allah.

“How many small groups have overcome large groups by Allah’s permission.” — Qur’an 2:249

People under tyranny embraced Islam — they were not forced.

Miracles and Knowledge Only Allah Could Reveal

 Darkness and internal waves in deep seas — unimaginable then. 360 joints in the human body — confirmed centuries later. • Splitting of the Moon — witnessed by Quraysh.

And Allah said about His Prophet :

“He does not speak from his own desire. It is nothing but revelation revealed.” — Qur’an 53:3–4

Final Declaration

Mock our beginnings… Mock our poverty… Mock our illiteracy…

But remember:

Our Prophet  was offered the world — and he chose Allah. And Allah raised his name above every name on Earth.
