How I Left Porn for Allah|An Islamic Recovery Guide Introduction – The Shame of Sin vs the Sweetness of Leaving It for Allah There was a time in my life when I was only inches away from selling my Lord and His Hereafter for a few moments of forbidden pleasure — a step that could have dragged me into prostitution. A click, a glance, a touch — and it could have been over. The temptation was strong — the allure of semi-nude women who stirred my lust to disobey my Lord and commit masturbation and shameful deeds. I was on the verge of trading my Lord and my Hereafter for a fleeting, shameful sin. But then Allah intervened. He forbade me from shamelessness and reminded me of His command: “Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids shamelessness (fahshā’), evil deeds (munkar), and transgression (baghy). He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.” (Qur’an 16:90) Allah promised something far greater than the temporary pleasure of this world — t...

The Origin of Humanity and Its Religion

The Origin of Humanity and Its Religion

1. The Origin of Humanity in the Qur’an

Created from a Single Soul

Surah An-Nisā’ (4:1)

Translation (Saheeh International):

O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.

🔹 This verse establishes the single origin of all humanity—from Adam and his spouse—showing that mankind is one family under one Creator.

2. The Religion of humanity:

Worship of Allah Alone

Islam teaches that the first religion of humanity was Tawḥīd — worshipping Allah alone. Every Prophet came with the same message.

A. Command to Worship Allah Alone

Surah An-Nisā’ (4:36)

Arabic:

وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًۭٔا…

Translation (Saheeh International):

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.

B. Tawḥīd and Goodness to Parents, kin and kith

Surah Al-Isrā’ (17:23–25)

Translation (Saheeh International):

And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment…

Say not to them [even] “uff,” nor repel them, but speak to them a noble word…

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”

Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves… indeed He is forgiving to the often returning.

🔹 These verses show that the two greatest duties in religion are

  1. Worshipping Allah alone
  2. Being excellent to parents, kin and kith

3. The Example of Prophet Ibrāhīm (A.S.) with His Father

The Qur’an beautifully illustrates how Ibrāhīm (A.S.) balanced rejecting shirk while maintaining kindness to his father.

Ibrahim’s father (called Āzar in Qur’an chapter 6:verse 74) used to make and worship idols. Ibrahim, even as a youth, advised him with respect and mercy:

Qur’an chapter 19:verses 41–45 “And mention in the Book Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. When he said to his father: ‘O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? O my father, indeed there has come to me knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path. O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed, Satan is ever disobedient to the Most Merciful. O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion.’”

🔹 Here we see how Ibrahim called his father four times with gentleness: “O my father…”

1. His Gentle Advice

Surah Maryam (19:41–45)

Ibrāhīm repeatedly said, “O my father…” showing respect, gentleness, and concern.

He explained that idols cannot hear, see, or benefit.

He invited his father to guidance with compassion and fear for his fate.

2. His Father’s Harsh Response

Surah Maryam (19:46)

He threatened him with stoning and commanded him to leave.

3. Ibrahim’s Forgiving Response

Surah Maryam (19:47)

“Peace be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord…”

4. Why Ibrahim Later Stopped Asking Forgiveness

Surah At-Tawbah (9:114)

When it became clear that his father died as an enemy to Allah, Ibrahim (A.S.) dissociated himself.

5. Lesson from Luqmān’s Advice

Surah Luqmān (31:15)

If they strive to make you associate partners with Me… do not obey them, but accompany them in this world with kindness.

✔ Absolute obedience is only for Allah

✔ But kindness to parents remains required—even if they are non-Muslims

Principle:

"There is no obedience to any created being in disobedience to Allah."

(Authentic hadith, Musnad Aḥmad; graded Ṣaḥīḥ)

4. Conduct of Prophet Yaḥyā (John) and Prophet ʿĪsā (Jesus) with Parents

Prophet Yaḥyā (A.S.)

Allah praised him for righteousness and respect toward his parents.

Surah Maryam (19:12–15)

“…and dutiful to his parents, and he was neither disobedient nor arrogant.”

🔹 Yaḥyā (A.S.) is described as a model of purity, obedience, gentleness, and excellent behavior toward parents.

Prophet ʿĪsā (A.S.)

Even as a newborn, he declared his obedience to Allah and kindness to his mother.

Surah Maryam (19:30–32)

“And He has made me dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.”

🔹 ʿĪsā (A.S.) had no father, yet the Qur’an highlights his honoring of his mother as a core part of his prophethood.

Conclusion

Humanity began from a single pair created by Allah.

Religion began as pure Tawḥīd—worshipping Allah alone.

Every Prophet taught submission to Allah and kindness to parents.

From Ibrāhīm’s gentleness…

to Yaḥyā’s purity…

to ʿĪsā’s dutifulness…

The Qur’an shows that the true religion combines correct belief with excellent character, beginning with how we treat our parents.
